John Woo created a series of films that are the platonic ideal of what action movies could (should?) be. Among his illustrious catalogue, The Killer still stands out. Cops chase Triads, gangsters show remorse for their actions, guns are drawn, and before the last reel about a thousand shell casings will hit the floor. There's a reason they had to invent an entire genre for Woo's films: "heroic bloodshed."
